Dying for a Dream
Jeremy Berman and Brixton Berman
Jeremy started Q Drum Co. in 2010 with a dream: not just to build drums, but to create something meaningful, something lasting, and something for the world to remember forever.
For more than a decade, he poured everything he had into that vision. His time. His energy. His creativity. His finances. Building drums wasn’t just a job to Jeremy. It was his passion. His purpose. His identity.
Jeremy sacrificed so much for Q and even put a lot of his personal touring money into the company. For example, he routed income from his last and final touring gig with the band Muse — to keep growing the company he built and believed in so deeply.
In 2022, Jeremy began experiencing serious health symptoms and felt that something wasn't quite right. While on tour with the band Muse and overseas in Greece, an oncologist performed an endoscopy. When he woke up, the doctor shared a concern no one is ever prepared to hear. She believed he had signet ring cell adenocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of stomach cancer, and advised him to return home immediately.
Research published by the National Institutes of Health has shown that occupational exposure to metal dust, metal fumes, and wood dust, including materials commonly encountered when cutting, shaping, and finishing instruments, has been associated with an increased risk of certain cancers, including gastric cancer.
Jeremy spent years working hands-on with the materials like wood and metal, dedicating himself fully to the craft of building drums at the highest level possible.
He gave everything he had to his dream.
And today, I share this story so people understand the level of dedication behind the Q Drum Co. name, the passion, the sacrifice, and the commitment Jeremy carried every single day.
This is part of a larger story. One that deserves to be fully understood.
Because behind every instrument he created was a person who believed deeply in his work, in his family, and in building something that mattered.
Jeremy didn’t just build drums.
He built a legacy.
And I will never let this legacy and his sacrifice be forgotten.
Love, Brandi ❤️
